Dental implants

An implant is a titanium post placed in the jawbone where the tooth root used to be. Once it has fused with the bone, a natural-looking crown is fitted on top. It can replace a single tooth, support a bridge or hold a full arch without touching the neighbouring teeth.

Duration
3–5 months in total, 4–6 clinic visits

Free first examination and panoramic X-ray.

Who it's for

  • People missing one or more teeth
  • Anyone unhappy with a removable denture
  • Patients who don't want healthy teeth ground down for a bridge

How it works

  1. 1

    Examination and X-ray

A panoramic X-ray, and a CT scan if needed, measure the bone and set the plan.

  2. 2

    Implant placement

Done under local anaesthesia, usually in a single session.

  3. 3

    Healing period

The implant needs about 2–4 months to bond with the bone. A temporary tooth can be worn meanwhile.

  4. 4

    Final crown

Impressions are taken and a zirconia or porcelain crown is fitted.

Frequently asked

Does it hurt?

The procedure is done under local anaesthesia. Mild tenderness for a few days afterwards is normal and managed with painkillers.

What if I don't have enough bone?

In most cases a bone graft or sinus lift creates enough volume. Your examination will tell.
